{Guest Series: Urban Simplicity} Checklist One: Assess and Stock-up

Korinne from Urban Simplicity has been organizing everything in her path, from schedules to people since I met her a few years ago. Her blog is my go-to when I am in need of a tip or trick to help get my organizing juices flowing. I am so excited she will be sharing a series of checklists to help get us prepped and ready to entertain this fall. Thanks for posting, Korinne!

If you’re summer is anything like mine, it’s the busiest time of the year. Between weekends at the beach, vacations, and traveling to friends’ weddings, I’m never home. Which means things can start to slip around the house.

When Jen asked if I would contribute to her awesome blog, I was thrilled. Get ready for Urban Simplicity’s series of four checklists to get your home ready for entertaining this fall and into the holidays.

{Checklist One: Assess and Stock-up}

Before you do anything, it’s best to take some time to assess what needs to be done. That way you can effectively budget your time. Another first step is to determine what supplies you need to get your home into good working order.

1. Walk through your home and assess the damage
2. Make a list of all problem areas
3. Write out a plan with a timeline for everything that needs to be done
4. Schedule time on your calendar to tackle one problem area a week
5. Make a list of supplies, from cleaning to office
6. Make a list of items to stock the bar
7. Make a list of your pantry basics
8. Hit the grocery store
9. Hit the liquor store
10. Keep a grocery and supply list on your fridge or on the inside of a cabinet door
11. Stock up on comfy slippers to offer guests if you make them remove their shoes

Stay tuned for next week. I’ll share a quick checklist for making the seasonal switch so your home is ready for guests at a moment’s notice.
