travel // from Paris with love

Let me preface that this post is meant to inspire you, not make you jealous. It had been years since my last visit to Paris.  While I was planning on visiting friends in London, a quick search of plane ticket prices had a flight home from Paris a good $400 cheaper, so as they say, “Paris is always a good idea” and I was booked to spend the weekend roaming the streets in one of the most magical places on earth. I will admit, this is not a food post. I wasn’t feeling so hot towards the end of my trip, so eating wasn’t high on my priority list. This post is all about the little entertaining treasures to be found in a few of my favorite stores. Seriously, I had to sit on my suitcase to get it closed! From napkins and placemats, to cups and cutting boards – These are my four all time favorite stores to stock up on some very special entertaining finds. Because, everything is better when it’s from Paris. WARNING: You might need to bring an extra suitcase!

1. Merci – a girlfriend who lives in Paris told me this was a must and I pretty much freaked out the moment I walked down the ally way and in the front door. This place has everything from clothes to housewares. I picked up some great disposable bowls and utensils perfect for upcoming picnic season!

2. E.DEHILLERIN – this place is your mecca for cookware. It took every once of me to not but one of their famed copper pots, but I can assure you I will be bringing an empty suitcase for these on my next trip. They have everything a chef could dream of, and the wall of whisks was just the beginning.

3. MONOPRIX – often called the Target of Paris, this place has a little bit if everything at cheap prices. I picked up about five new sets of napkins in fun colors don’t get me started on the number of patterned socks I  scored. I don’t have kids, but this place has some many great kids clothes!

4. LA GRANDE EPICERIE DE PARIS – I had to pick up some Fleur de del for my mother, so a quick trip to La Grande Epicerie de Paris turned into two hours of exploring the most beautiful grocery store I have ever seen. This is a perfect place to pick smaller gifts and stock up on spices for your home. Also, I picked up some goodies (aka, tons of baguettes and butter) to snack on while I roamed the streets.

Hope you enjoy these lovely shops as much as I did and are already booking your next trip!
