{Monday Flowers} Leaf Love

It is officially fall and I can’t help but bring a little bit of foliage from the park into the apartment (don’t worry, I’m not cutting down any branches) I picked up a few branches from my corner store this weekend for my living room and they should last me until Thanksgiving, you just need to change the water every couple of days, the same way you would with cut flowers and you should be good to go. Magnolia leaves are my favorite for fall decorating, you can use both sides to add some dimension to your arrangement and they really fill up a vase. Happy November! {Image source: 1 // 2 // 3 // 4 }

{pin this} time for fall cocktails

Today was the first day in the City that truly felt like fall. I finally switched over the wardrobe and broke out a jacket. During the first few weeks of fall is the perfect time for entertaining at home. No need to worry about the sweltering heat (from outside and in the kitchen), everyone is back from vacation, and before the craziness of the holidays sets it is the perfect time to catch up with friends over a cocktail (or two). This weekend I am having a few friends over to do just that and got my pin on with a few inspiration ideas- check them out! forget the crostini! use dried fruit as your vessel. getting in the mood with the right color palette update plain popcorn with a little rosemary loving this cocktail recipe it wouldn’t be a cocktail party without a little brie who says you have to use flowers to set the table? Make sure to check back next week for the results. Happy Thursday!

We had an amazing trip, and I am so happy to share a few of the many highlights along the way. I am kicking off my recap with a family tradition, Oktoberfest. My parents have thrown the annual celebration for as long as I can remember. Mom (pictured with me above) makes a full homemade spread of our German, and not so German, favorites like potato pancakes, bratwurst, red cabbage, mac and cheese, and don’t forget the soft pretzels. You will also see below, that my father has his own unique tradition when it comes to entertainment. A few years back, my father decided to take entertainment into his own hands. A true engineer and kid at heart, he took some of our arcade and Price Is Right favorites and made them his own. He set himself a couple of ground rules (1. He never tells us what the new game will be. 2. He can only use items found in his workshop, plus $5 for “outside” supplies) and the results are hilarious! I have …
