{Travel to Table} Portuguese Pastries: Pastéis de nata

I am reaching back into the vault for today’s Travel to Table. A few years back (long before the blog) I took a solo trip to Portugal for some much needed R&R. It was my first vacation alone, and it was one of the most amazing trips I have ever taken, I highly recommend it. I was in Lisbon for the first four days, followed by a train trip down to the Algarve for three days by the beach. Portugal is absolutely beautiful, and very easy to get around. One of my favorite treats from my travels was the classic Portuguese pastry, Pastéis de nata, or “cream tarts”. A fairly simple egg tart pastry, you can find at every corner bakery in Lisbon. With their flakey crust and custard filling, these little cups can be addictive.
